Brito’s Group is a vertically integrated company, which strives to offer its retail and wholesale clients optimal value through controlling its entire supply chain – from the importing of raw materials to the retailing of the finished product directly to the end consumer.
WHO WE ARE
Founded in 1989 by the owner and CEO, Mr. John de Brito da Silva, and later joined by his brother, Fernando da Silva, in 1993, the Brito’s Group of Companies has since evolved from a modest manufacturing operation to a leader in South African food distribution, manufacturing, and retail industry.
Brito’s Group’s headquarters are located in Cape Town, in the Western Cape Province of South Africa, and we operate from two manufacturing facilities: a 10 000 m2 premises situated in Kaymor Industria, Bellville, and a 25 000 m2 premises situated in Brackengate Industria, Brackenfell. The Brito’s Group has a current staff complement in excess of 1 000.
The Brito’s Group of Companies annually imports in excess of 100 000 mt of frozen poultry, mutton, beef, pork, venison, frozen vegetables, soya vegetable proteins, hog casings, pasta, and seafood.
To complement our 8500 mt cold storage facility, Brito’s also has a seperate 1 500 mt low-temperature cold store to enable fast and efficient dispatch to our Brito’s Meat Centres and wholesale clients.
Our import requirements are supplemented by the sourcing of an additional 30 000 mt of fresh beef, pork, lamb, poultry, and vegetables from our network of national producers.

Brito’s undergoes annual FSA (Food & Safety) audits conducted by Intertek. Both our processing and cold store facilities are ZA approved. We are also a ‘Veterinary Approved PPP Facility’ and undergo monthly VPN42 audits.
